Kwakiutl

Kwakiutl Tales by Franz Boas:

This is a collection of myths and folklore from the Kwakiutl Native Americans of British Columbia, Canada. They originally resided on the northern end of Vancouver Island and the adjacent coast. The texts were collected and translated by Franz Boas, who was one of the founders of modern anthropology and linguistics. These stories are much more satisfying for the Western reader than many unfiltered Native American texts, with rich characterizations, earthy humor, spooky supernatural settings, and, for once, actual beginnings, middles and ends. It is obvious that the Kwakuitl were accomplished story tellers.

If your looking for a "Kwakiutl legend/myth" this is a good place to start.

And we want to honor a tradition of openness that Movable Type has embodied for over six years..." I am going to download this soon, very very soon.

Edward Curtis "Dressing Up"

Kwakwala is the language of the Kwakiutl and the Kwakwak.....

I'm not purposely being politically incorrect by not spelling the remainder of the last word in the title, it is just I can never sort how to spell Kwakwakwewak. But if for some reason you want to know how to say hello in Kwakwala visit <http://www.ainc-inac.gc.ca/ks/5030_e.html">Indian and Northern Affairs Canada</a>.
